Ines Brunn rocks Los Angeles at the BFF 2008!!

We closed down the block this past weekend as we hosted the Bicycle Film Festival block party for the second year in a row!  Hundreds of people showed up despite the oppressively hot weather.

There were DJ’s, Burrito’s, BMX and fixed gear competitions all day long.

The highlight of the day was the special performance by legendary artistic cyclist Ines Brunn.  If you think pedaling bar spin wheelies on a track bike is impressive check this out. Ines performed her world famous Kunst Rad Show and upped the fixed gear ante by pulling circular backwards seated pedaling death truck maneuvers over the rough and uneven road in front of our shop.

Ines also let us tool around on her trick bike, and later we had a private session with some of the local LA flatlanders. Much Respect Ines!

Ines was also riding a new pink Cinelli track bike laced with silver Level hubs and platform pedals. We had a chance to ride around some and it was a suprise to me that this was a new cycling genre to Ines. We hooked her up with some custom painted pink GR-9s with clips and straps before turning her loose on the streets of San Francisco.

A Little Project With LA Eyeworks

Last November we were invited to do this thing called The LA Project with Paper Magazine. It was a kind of fine art/consumer art 24 hour 711 style expo on LaBrea near 3rd. While we were there I met the owner of LA Eyeworks (a local designer eyewear boutique). Long story short I have eyeglasses and they have bikes in thier three store front windows.

We borrowed my friend’s custom built Hotdog pin-striped 10 foot lowrider and put it into the 7386 Beverly location. At 7407 Melrose we set up a Dutch delivery bike and a ladies commuter. In the South Coast plaza in Costa Mesa we made a custom Affinity track bike. Check them out if you get a chance the exhibit is up for at least a few more days.

we have the smallest bike shop ever and they have 3 stores with great window spaces.
